A Few Strong Storms Rolling Through The NE Corner Of North Alabama

| May 10, 2018 @ 4:05 pm

A small line of storms is currently moving southeastward at roughly 25 MPH. These are producing a decent amount of cloud to ground lightning along with gusty winds up to 40 MPH. Locations to be affected by these storms within the next hour will be Woodville, Section, Henagar, Valley Head, Sylvania, Fyffe, Rainsville, and Fort Payne. A Significant Weather Advisory was in effect for this line of storms until 4:00 PM, but that has since expired.

We can expect these storms to continue moving southeast at 25 MPH for the next hour or two before they start to lose strength with the sun starting to set. There is a decent amount of instability (around 2100 J/kg) that can continue to keep these storms going and will possibly affect much of Dekalb County and the eastern half of Cherokee County before starting to diminish and moving off into Georgia.

No severe weather is expected with any of these storms, but be mindful of the lightning. If thunder roars, go indoors. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to the parent thunderstorm to be struck by lightning.
