| May 10, 2018 @ 5:55 pm

A few strong storms are continuing to push southeastward through portions of Cherokee, and will soon be entering the northern parts of Calhoun and Cleburne counties. As this cluster of storms were moving through the northern parts of Cherokee County, a few trees along with some power lines were downed from radar-estimated winds of 40-50 MPH.

In the Gaylesville community, one tree was downed and was across HWY 68 near CR 107 and Riverside Lane. Another tree fell on power lines causing a brief fire along CR 104. Another tree was reported down near Gaylesville on CR 91 near Mountain Pass.

In the Cedar Bluff community, a tree down on Brown Street.

Most of the activity has made it over the state line into western Georgia, but a few storms will continue through Cherokee County and eventually into Calhoun and Cherokee counties within the next 30-60 minutes. Surface instability values are still around 2000 J/kg, enough to keep the storms going for a good while longer.
