Carolita Smiley Lester Remembers Son Rickey Smiley Before He Became Famous

This weekend mothers will be celebrated and honored by their families. Mother’s Day is observed Sunday, May 13.
The mother of one Birmingham, star comedian recalls her joys and challenges in raising her children.

And although Birmingham-born and celebrity comedian Rickey Smiley of the Rickey Smiley Morning Show makes people laugh for a living, his mother, Carolita Smiley Lester, sees his success as no laughing matter.

Gratefulness and humility is what she says she feels when she sees her children all grown up today.
