The NWS Birmingham reconfigured the advisories a bit awhile ago, turning the Winter Weather Advisory into a Winter Storm Warning for Bibb, Chilton, Elmore, Fayette, Jefferson, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Shelby, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Winston…

Autauga County was added to the Winter Storm Warning.

The Winter Storm Warning continues for Blount, Calhoun, Chambers, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Etowah, Lee, Randolph, St. Clair, Talladega and Tallapoosa….

The Winter Weather Advisory continues for Autauga, Barbour, Bullock, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pike, Russell, Sumter.

Both alerts go till 3:00 PM CST

Working on the forecast for this afternoon. The back edge of the snow is moving eastward, but it appears that even though the snow area is contracting in its east to west extent, the overall eastward movement may slow, lengthening the time of the snow, especially for eastern areas.

Three main bands now…one curving from Cullman to Tuscaloosa…the second from Anniston to Montgomery and the third from Carrollton GA to Auburn.

Heavy snow was moving into parts of the Birmingham metro area.

I will keep adding to this post for awhile, so refresh for the latest information from time to time until the next new post.
