Scattered showers were in progress this afternoon, mainly over NW and extreme North Alabama.

At 1:25 p.m., most of them extended from Pickens County NE across Fayette and Walker Counties in the general vicinity of Double Springs, Cullman, Athens and Decatur.

Most of them were light, but some very small moderate showers were along the Jefferson/Blount County line, near Cullman and south of Hartselle. They were moving slowly NE.

We have two additional rain reports from our daily readers. Tom Waller reported 1.50 inches overnight near downtown Columbus, Mississippi. On the Mississippi coast, Scott McClellan reported just under 1 inch at Ocean Springs.

The heaviest showers and thunderstorms were concentrated over SE Louisiana with some moderate to heavy showers near the Mississippi coast.

SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOKS
The Storm Prediction Center maintains a slight risk for SE Louisiana, including Baton Rouge and New Orleans and the south edge of Mississippi for the remainder of this afternoon.

In the Plains, a slight risk is posted from parts of West and NW Texas northward to South Dakota. It includes almost all of Nebraska, Kansas, the western half of Oklahoma and the Eastern Colorado plains. Within that slight risk area is an enhanced moderate risk for the western half of Kansas, part of SW Nebraska and extreme Eastern Colorado.
