Another Warm Day Tomorrow

An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

WARMING UP: Sure looks like tomorrow will be the warmest day of the year. Model guidance suggests a high in the 80 to 84 degree range with a partly sunny sky after the morning clouds burn off. Really a nice preview of summer. But, most likely, it will be a while before we reach the 80s again.

MID-WEEK FRONT: A cold front will enter extreme North Alabama Wednesday, and stall out somewhere around here. It will bring some risk of showers, but with limited upper support, rain should be relatively light, with the best coverage north of U.S. 278 (Hamilton to Cullman to Gadsden). No severe weather and probably not much thunder.

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: Cooler air slips in here on these days with highs in the 55 to 60 degree range. Some overrunning is likely with the stalled front just south here, so the sky will be mostly cloudy, and some light rain will be possible. But again, rain amounts should be light.

THE WEEKEND: A nice wave forms on our front, and will most likely bring the most beneficial rain Saturday, Saturday night, and possibly into Sunday morning. Looks like potential for one inch of rain statewide over the weekend. Some thunder is possible, but once again at this time the risk of a major severe weather threat looks small.

ANOTHER COLD CORE UPPER LOW? Check out the Weather Xtreme video… the 12Z GFS is back on the idea of another cold core moving through here early next week with hints of a few snow flakes. We will discount the snow flakes for now, but the idea of colder weather for the first half of next week looks pretty good with a deep upper trough forming over the eastern U.S. Looks like temperatures across the Southeast U.S. will be below average for the first few days of next week. The week also looks generally dry with warming temperatures by the end of the week.
