The NWS in Birmingham has issued a dense fog advisory for parts of Central Alabama.

Patchy dense fog is occurring across North Alabama as well with visibilities reduced to 1/4 mile in isolated areas.

Residual moisture from recent rain and light winds has allowed patchy dense fog to form around daybreak. The rising sun and mixing from daytime heating will help dissipate this fog in another hour or so.

Motorists are urged to drive with extreme caution, as visibilities will vary significantly given the patchy nature of the fog. Use low beams, reduce driving speed, and allow for plenty of room between you and other cars.
