Areal Flood Warning Issued For Parts Of Lee County Until 12:00PM

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Flood Warning for Urban Areas and Small Streams in…
    Lee County in east central Alabama…

* Until noon CDT.

* At 900 AM CDT, Lee County Emergency Management officials reported flooding is continuing on small creeks and streams and many roadways in the area due to the heavy rainfall overnight and early this morning. Several roads are barricaded in the Smiths Station area and portions of Lee Road 238, Lee Road 246, Lee Road 294, Lee
    Road 437 and Lee Road 294 continue to be underwater. Bridge collapses have also occurred on Lee Road 318 and on Lee Road 319 at 687, and there is a possibility that there could be others that have collapsed. Flooding will continue during the next few hours as runoff from the previous rainfall continues. If you encounter a roadway covered by high water do not attempt to cross it. In addition, a River Flood Warning remains in effect for the
    Chattahoochee River at Columbus for minor flooding. Some flooding of areas near the Phenix City Amphitheatre is possible as the river rises towards its crest later today.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…Opelika, Smiths, Smiths Station, Beulah, Beauregard, Bleecker, Beans Mill, Griffen Mill, Ladonia, Monterey Heights, Marvyn and Mount Jefferson.
