Areal Flood Advisory Issued For Parts Of Greene & Pickens Counties Until 4:00 PM

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for…
Southwestern Pickens County in west central Alabama…
Northwestern Greene County in west central Alabama…

Until 400 PM CDT.

At 204 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms moving across the area. Rainfall of one to two inches has fallen in localized areas…and another inch or so is possible during the next hour. This will produce minor flooding of roadways in the area…especially near small creeks and streams and in low-lying flood prone areas with poor drainage.

Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Aliceville, Carrollton, Pickensville, Union, McMullen, Garden, New West Greene, Mantua, West Greene, Johnston Lake, Bevill Lock And Dam, Gainesville Lake Campground, Dillburg, George Downer Airport, Pleasant Ridge, Cochrane and Lewiston.
