NWS Birmingham has removed Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Jefferson, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, and Tuscaloosa counties from the Flash Flood Watch that goes into 7:00 PM this evening. The flood threat has ended for these counties as rains have moved out of the area.

Showers and thunderstorms continue to move slowly to the east over portions of Dallas and Lowndes counties and over through parts of Montgomery and Pike counties. One-hour rainfall estimates on radar is showing 1.20″ of rain per hour in the storm moving into Pike County which will affect Troy and Brundidge within the next 30-60 minutes. The other storms are putting down copious amounts of rain, upwards of 0.50″ to 0.80″ per hour.

If you come across any roads covered with flood waters, turn around and don’t drown. You never know how deep the water is or what debris or hazards lie underneath the surface. Don’t take a chance… don’t become a statistic.
