A Quick Check On Our Weather At 2:40 PM

| June 10, 2018 @ 2:39 pm

More showers and storms are popping up across much of North Alabama, along with southeastern parts of Central Alabama and the southwestern locations of Central Alabama. Most of these are producing plenty of cloud to ground lightning and a quick burst of heavy rainfall.

Perhaps the strongest storms on the radar at this point are located over the northern parts of Blount, the northeastern parts of Cullman, and the southern parts of Marshall County. Pea size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph is possible with this storm, so a Significant Weather Advisory has been issued until 3:00 PM for parts of Marshall and Cullman counties.

We’ll continue to have storms pop up and die off possibly leaving an outflow boundary where new storms may form or existing storms may strengthen. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a few storms get as strong as last night, with wind gusts up to 40 MPH due to downbursts. We may have one or two briefly become severe, but the likelihood is low. Some localized ponding to minor flash flooding could be possible with any heavy storms as these are slow movers, mostly around 10-15 MPH to the southeast.
