Birmingham Hits The Normal High Temperature On Monday

| June 12, 2018 @ 8:00 am

With the cloud cover and showers that passed over the Birmingham Airport during the early afternoon hours, the official high fell a few degrees short of forecast but ended up hitting the normal high of 87 degrees. The early morning low of 69 degrees was only 2 degrees above normal. The recorded temperatures fell well short of the record values, as the record high was 98 degrees set back in 2007, and the record low was 50 degrees set back in 1988. For the month, Birmingham is still running a little warmer than normal by 2.3 degrees. The normal average is 75.8 degrees and the average so far for June is 78.1 degrees.

After receiving well over 1.00 inch of rain on Sunday, the Magic City only receive 0.02 inches on Monday, bringing the total up to 1.69 inches for the month. That keeps the city 0.12 inches above normal for the month so far, and 5.00 inches above normal for the year. There is a good chance that Birmingham will receive rain today as we continue to have a moist, unstable airmass over us.
