The NWS Birmingham has canceled the severe thunderstorm watch that was in effect for Central Alabama.

They also have canceled the flash flood watch that was in effect for South Central Alabama.

At 830 a.m., the main band of moderate to heavy rain curved from near Anniston through Randolph, Chambers, Lee, Macon and Bullock Counties. It will be moving into Georgia over the next couple of hours.

A band of showers extended across Wilcox, Lowndes, Montgomery and Elmore Counties.

Sun was actually breaking out over western sections of the state.

To the west, an area of light to moderate showers was lifting northeastward through Northeast Mississippi. This activity will affect West Central and Northwest Alabama. It is ahead of the dryline or pre-frontal trough.

The cold front is crossing the Mississippi River. A few showers wer being kicked up just ahead of the front.

The chance of any recovery of the airmass over Alabama is negligible. There still could be an isolated storm with some gusty winds, but the threat for severe weather is greatly diminished.

Let’s travel west to US-82 to see the temperature profile:

Tuscaloosa: 63/59 ESE 6
Columbus: 63/59 SSE 13
Greenwood: 59/55 SSW 13
Greenville: 47/44 WSW 20
Eldorado: 37/27 SW 12
Texarkana: 34/23 W 14
Sherman TX: 34/31 W 16
Lubbock: 28/15 NW 18

It is still snowing in Pampa, Texas.
