Many of our Skywatchers are reporting some frost… this is why we have been telling you it is a little too early for planting anything that might be damaged by frost or a late season freeze. We will probably have more morning like this in a week or so.

THE DAYS AHEAD: Some fast and furious changes are ahead in the weather. Today, however, will remain pleasant with ample sunshine and a nice warm-up; we should rise to 70 degrees this afternoon. For the rest of the week, we have two significant rain event ahead.

TOMORROW: We will forecast a good chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm tomorrow and tomorrow night. With limited instability and dynamic support, severe weather is not expected to be a big problem here; SPC has the far southwest corner of Alabama (Mobile and Baldwin counties) in a slight risk of severe weather. This batch of rain should end late tomorrow night.

WEDNESDAY: This will be a lull, with the sky becoming partly to mostly sunny. We should reach the low 70s Wednesday afternoon.

THURSDAY: A more potent short wave will approach, and a deepening surface low running from near Lufkin, Texas to Memphis. A warm front will be lifting northward, and showers and storms are likely. There will be some risk of severe weather here if we can break into the warm sector, and it seems that is possible by Thursday night. SPC has all of Alabama along and south of I-20 in a risk of severe weather Thursday night. Some heavy rain is also possible. We will take a closer look at details after tomorrow’s first round of rain.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: We will forecast a clearing sky on Friday, and Saturday looks like a beautiful day. But, more showers and storms arrive Sunday with yet another strong spring storm system. There could be some strong storms involved with that one as well.

LONG RANGE: After the storms Sunday and Sunday night, there is some hint we might have a threat of frost around Tuesday morning of next week. Beyond that, no really cold weather shows up, and it might be late fall before we have more frost.
