Alabama Update at 11:30 pm

| April 2, 2009 @ 11:26 pm | 11 Replies

That long line of viscous thunderstorms that caused damage in many counties was over east Alabama late tonight.

The line was weaker and partially broken up. Very little lightning. But it was still strong enough to trigger a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 11:45 pm for these areas:

* Extreme NE Calhoun County
* NE Clay County
* Cleburne County
* Randolph County
* Chambers County

Could still produce wind gusts 60 mph or higher.

Widespread wind damage almost across the entire state from this long line of storms that had a distinct bow as it crossed into West Alabama from Mississippi and almost ready to leave the state for Georgia.

When the storms moved through Birminghamm a gust of 56 mph was recorded downtown at the 3340 Skycam atop the Daniel Building.

We will keep watch until these storms get completely through Alabama.

It has been a long day…but life goes on…
