A Few Northwestern Counties Have Been Removed From Flash Flood Watch

| September 26, 2018 @ 1:48 pm

NWS Huntsville has decided to remove Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, and Limestone counties from the Flash Flood Watch as the threat of widespread heavy rainfall and flooding has diminished over this area. Locally heavy rainfall and isolated flash flooding is still possible, but widespread flash flooding is not expected.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for Cullman, DeKalb, Jackson, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan counties in North Alabama, and for Blount, Cherokee, Etowah, Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Walker, and Winston counties until 7:00 AM CDT Thursday morning.

From NWS Birmingham concerning the Flash Flood Warning for Jefferson County: After talking with Jefferson EMA, we’ve decided to extend the warning until 3:45 PM due to the Flash Flooding that’s still ongoing in the Brighton area around Valley Creek, and also some reports of continued flooding in and near Downtown Birmingham.
