An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below, and on iTunes…

Weather like this makes our job pretty easy… no rain through Tuesday of next week; the weekend will feature mild days and very cool nights.

At 5:00 the coolest spot in Alabama, based on the hourly observations, is Fort Payne with a chilly 43 degrees. The Cullman Airport is reporting 45, while Birmingham is at 50. Tomorrow morning should be a little cooler since the wind should be completely calm; most spots will be somewhere between 44 and 49 degrees at daybreak tomorrow.

The weekend will be sunny statewide; the high will be in the upper 70s tomorrow, with low 80s by Sunday. Humidity values will remain low.

NEXT WEEK: We warm into the mid to upper 80s on Monday, but the GFS continues to show a wedge setup for Tuesday and Wednesday with should knock daytime temperatures down a bit. We are still looking at our next chance of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday of next week as a cold front moves through the state; the 00Z GFS shows a fairly robust upper trough driving the front, which would put us in drier air again by Friday (one week from today).

LONG RANGE: The primary storm track shifts north, and it looks like our only hope for a big rain event in the May 26-June 2 time frame will come from the tropics, where rather unsettled weather will continue. But, the 00z GFS shows nothing specifically coming this way.

I will be out at Avondale Elementary School this morning, and then later today I am headed to the Ross Bridge Resort for live weather from the Regions Charity Golf Classic at 5:00 and 6:00. I will not be producing an afternoon Weather Xtreme video today due to the travel schedule. Brian Peters will have the video updates here over the weekend; my next video will be posted Monday morning by 7:00 a.m. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the great weather.
