A Quick Check On Our Weather At Midday

| October 1, 2018 @ 12:43 pm

RADAR CHECK AT 12:25 PM
At this point across Central Alabama, only a few spotty showers are showing up over the northeastern parts of Lowndes County and the northwestern parts of Montgomery County. There is also one very small shower in the southern part of Cullman County. These are moving very little at this point. Skies are partly to mostly cloudy across the area and temperatures are in the lower 80s for the most part with the only two spots warmer than that are Troy at 84 degrees and Eufaula at 87 degrees. Birmingham was sitting at 81 degrees.

HRRR Simulated Radar valid through 4:00 am CT Tuesday.

WEATHER FOR THE REST OF YOUR DAY
Skies will remain partly to mostly cloudy throughout the remainder of the afternoon hours and there will be a very small chance of a few isolated showers. Looking at the latest HRRR model run shows very little in the way of shower activity popping up throughout the remainder of the day, so nearly all of Central Alabama should remain dry. Afternoon highs should top out in the mid to upper 80s and the chance of rain for any one spot will be around 20%. For this evening and through the overnight hours, skies will become mostly clear throughout the area and there will be a very small risk of a stray shower or two over the extreme northwestern corner of Central Alabama. Lows will be in the mid to the upper 60s.

THE TROPICS
It’s relatively quiet over the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, with the only disturbance in the Atlantic continuing to be Tropical Storm Leslie. She will be no threat to land as she will start to move off to the northeast by late Wednesday, but she is expected to briefly strengthen into a hurricane before doing that.
