A Few Quick Notes at 6:45 p.m.

The new advisory is out and the National Hurricane Center says Michael is becoming much better organized. The central pressure is down to 953 millibars. The top winds are sitll 120 mph but the storm is just a short step from being a category four hurricane.

The central dense overcast has become circular and more solid on infrared satellite imagery.

The eye is not centrally located inside that CDO, but it is completely enclosed now. A core like this is harder to penetrate with dry air.

Outflow seems to be increasing again and more intense storms are forming in which looks to be a developing feeder band just north of the core.

The lightning is the eyewall is very intense, a general indication of a strengthening storm.

The Air Force plane is on an inbound leg to the eye and we will have another fix shortly.
