An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

CHILLY MORNING: Some of the colder spots across Northeast Alabama are in the mid to upper 30s this morning; our Skywatcher in the hamlet of Scrougeout, northeast of Gadsden, reports 35 degrees and is the coldest place we can find this morning. Look for a nice warm up today with a good supply of sunshine and a high in the low 70s. Pretty much the same story tomorrow; it should be a very nice spring day.

RAIN RETURNS THIS WEEKEND: We still expect showers to move into West Alabama during the day Saturday; the 00Z GFS continues to hint the best chance of rain during the day Saturday will be along and west of I-59; that rain becomes more widespread Saturday night and Sunday, when some thunderstorms could be involved as well. Still not seeing a big chance of severe weather with marginal parameters, but you always have to watch any system this time of the year. Rain amounts of one inch are likely over the weekend, with isolated amounts to two inches possible, mainly over the northwest counties of the state.

NEXT WEEK: A cold upper trough will be overhead Monday; looks like a cloudy and cool day with some risk of scattered light rain, and temperatures only in the 50s. The sky will clear Tuesday, with nice weather for the rest of the week with mild days and pleasantly cool nights Wednesday through Friday. See the Weather Xtreme video; looks like the following weekend could be dry; that is race weekend at Talladega.

VOODOO LAND: The general idea is for warmer weather for the last week of April with fewer storm systems as the primary storm track retreats to the north a bit.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.

TWITTER: Don’t forget, you can follow our news and weather updates from ABC 33/40 on Twitter here. And, my personal Twitter feed is here if you want to keep up with my adventures in life. Twitter is a short messaging service you can receive via the web, cell phone, or IM.

I will be speaking to the senior adults this morning at Parker Memorial Baptist Church in Anniston… I will be back in the office by early afternoon and the next Weather Xtreme video will be posted by 3:30. Enjoy the day!
