Light To Moderate Showers Linger On In East Alabama. Severe Threat Done In South Alabama
As of 7:35 pm CST, rain has ended for all of North Alabama and for much of Central Alabama. Some light to moderate showers remains falling over the east and southeastern parts of the area. Unfortunately, as this activity continues to push off into Georgia, more shower activity looks to form off to our west and move in during the late night and overnight hours. That activity will be light and scattered in nature, and most of that activity will be out of the area by the noon hour on Tuesday.
Down to the south in the extreme southern parts of the state, the heavier and stronger storms have completely moved out of the state and into southwestern Georgia and down into the Florida panhandle. The organized severe weather threat has dissipated, but a few strong storms are possible with gusty winds.
All Tornado Watches that were in effect were allowed to expire. Only a Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 6:00 pm CST Tuesday for Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia, Conecuh, Covington, Coffee, Geneva, Dale, Houston, and Henry counties.
Record daily rainfall totals were set today in a few places…
Tuscaloosa had a total of 1.75 inches, breaking the previous record for this date of 0.96 inches set back in 1988.
Montgomery had a total of 1.77 inches, breaking the previous record for this date of 1.55 inches set back in 1997.
Anniston had a total of 3.79 inches, breaking the previous record for this date of 0.90 inches set back in 1975.
