A Cold and Wet Weekend

| December 8, 2018 @ 10:49 am

COLD & WET: It is a great day for ducks as widespread rain continues to fall across the state today. This is one of those days where every square inch of the state will be seeing the rain at some point.

Through the morning hours, the ran has been light to moderate, but as we head through the afternoon, heavier rain is expected as the main low pressure approaches Alabama along the Gulf Coast.

Temperatures have been fairly steady today with mid and upper 40s.

Our winds will be breezy at times this afternoon and tonight out of the east at 10-20 mph, which will make it feel colder out there. Rain amounts the next 24 hours look to be on the order of 2-4 inches statewide.

TONIGHT: More of the same as rain will remain in the forecast. Expect a wet, cloudy, and cold night with temperatures continuing to hold in the 40s across the state, with a few upper 30s in some locations.

FOR SUNDAY: Tomorrow will continue to be cloudy, cold, and rain will continue to be a threat as light rain and drizzle is likely at times throughout the day. Once again, temperatures will likely hold in the 40s all day, so yet another rather raw and winter-like day for Alabama.

SUNDAY NIGHT & MONDAY: The low will be tracking off to the east of the state and wrap around moisture will continue to linger over Alabama, meaning light rain will remain in the forecast. Also, colder air will be pulled south into the state, and we could see some of the lingering rain become snow flurries across portions of North/Central Alabama, and perhaps some snow showers for the Tennessee Valley and Northeast Alabama, but major impacts are not expected. For Monday, clouds and perhaps light rain will linger across the area, and once again, temperatures will remain in the 40s.
