More Rain Ahead For Alabama

| January 1, 2019 @ 3:08 pm

**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today; back to the “two a day” schedule tomorrow**

RADAR CHECK: Showers continue across parts of Southeast Alabama… generally south of a line from Lafayette to Prattville to Camden. For the rest of the state, the sky is generally cloudy with a few breaks in the overcast. Temperatures are generally in the 60s.

MORE RAIN: A deep storm system over the western half of the nation will push more rain into Alabama beginning tomorrow afternoon. Rain continues at times tomorrow night and Thursday morning… and, after a possible break in the rain Thursday afternoon, the weather turns wet again Thursday night and Friday. The air will be fairly cool and stable during this wet period, so no worries with severe thunderstorms, and probably little, if any, thunder.

Rain amounts will be generally in the 1 to 2 inch range, probably not enough for flash flooding, but it will keep creeks and rivers across Alabama swollen, and in many cases out of their banks.

BRIGHTER WEEKEND: Dry air returns to Alabama Friday night with a clearing sky, and the weekend will be rain-free with chilly nights and pleasant days. The high Saturday will be in the 55-59 degree range, followed by mid 60s Sunday. Morning lows will be in the 30s.

NEXT WEEK: We will mention a chance of showers Tuesday with a passing front, otherwise the week looks dry with seasonal temperatures; highs in the 50s and 60s, and lows in the 30s and 40s.
