Heads Up: Tornado Warned Storm in Greene County Could Affect City of Tuscaloosa Before 10:30 a.m.

| January 19, 2019 @ 10:03 am

A little heads up for our friends in Tuscaloosa County to keep a close eye on the storm that is over Greene County just north of I-59/20 and Boligee.

This storm will ride northeastward at 50 mph along I-59 and will be into southwestern Tuscaloosa County around 10:15 a.m. It would reach western parts of the City of Tuscaloosa before 10:30 a.m.

There have been no confirmations of a tornado yet, but one could form at any time. The structure on the storm looks very impressive on radar. It is riding on a nose of instability along a warm front that is lifting north. There is plenty of low-level shear as well, and it appears to be moving into an area with more southeasterly surface winds, which could help spin up a tornado.
