New Tornado Warning for Greene County: Will Parallel I-59/20 Like Previous Storm

| January 19, 2019 @ 10:44 am

A new tornado warning has been issued for Green County for a new tornadic circulation moving out of Sumter County. It is moving northeast at 45-50 mph.

The warning is for northern parts of Greene County, including Clinton, Union, and Knoxville.

The structure of the storm is perhaps even a little more impressive than the previous storm.

If it holds together, it will move into Tuscaloosa County as well between 11-11:15 a.m. The previous storm fizzled as it approached Tuscaloosa, and we hope that happens again. But the storm is riding along what must be a boundary of increasing instability to the south so it does have the potential to produce a tornado.

The storm that prompted the earlier earnings is over the Northport area in Tuscaloosa County.
