From Alabama’s Gulf Coast

Thanks to our own associate John Oldshue for these images… he writes:

“Hey James,

Here are some pictures from our Memorial Day weekend visit to Gulf
Shores. The folks with us were our college friends, the
Cook’s from Jackson, Mississippi…

It was a beautiful but dangerous weekend. Two people drowned in the
undertow not 100 yards from our condo. Not sure what the shark is, but
we found it down at Fort Morgan. One of the greatest naval battles of
the civil war happened there but I would guess that less than 5% of
the people who visit Gulf Shores know what is down the Ft. Morgan
road.

Restaurants we visited this time…

Sea N Suds …. always a favorite but wait time was 1.5 hours

Lulu’s …another favorite…wait time was 2.5 hours

The Shrimp Basket on Perdido Key…excellent and only 30 minute wait

Wintzell’s Oyster House in Fairhope….always great. I noticed the
record for Oyster eating was 403 in an hour. I am going to try and
break that the next time I am down there.

I think we should have an informal poll as to the best seafood place
on the Alabama Gulf Coast.”
