Smoke, Smoke, Smoke That Cigarette

Back in the late 40s, there was a very popular country song with that title. Heard it often on WJRD and WTBC, Tuscaloosa and on the Joe Rumore Show which was on WAPI at the time.

Seems like everybody in Alabama is smoking a cigarette this morning.

Visibility only one mile at Huntsville Airport.

Visibility restrictions also reported at Birmingham, Montgomery, Calera, Anniston, Alexander City and Troy.

Chuck Biddinger, one of our regular blog readers, reports he has never seen the smoke this bad in the Roebuck area of East Birmingham unless there was a fire nearby.

We joked that we need to build a huge 50-mile in diameter electric fan along the Alabama-Georgia border and blow all that smoke back into Georgia. But we do feel for our Georgia and Florida neighbors having to breathe the smoky air.

Actually, at 10 am, there was some scattered light rain over about the south one-third of Alabama. Moving toward the NW.
