Some Central Alabama Counties Removed From The Winter Weather Advisory

| January 29, 2019 @ 7:44 am

NWS Birmingham has canceled the Winter Weather Advisory for Blount, Cherokee, Etowah, Jefferson, Pickens, St. Clair, Tuscaloosa, and Walker counties.

The precipitation has ended or will be too light to result in any accumulations.

The Winter Weather Advisory continues until 12:00 pm for Autauga, Bibb, Calhoun, Chambers, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Greene, Hale, Marengo, Perry, Randolph, Shelby, Sumter, Talladega, and Tallapoosa counties.

Rain, mixed with some snow, continues to push eastward across the east and southeastern portions of Central Alabama. All precipitation has come to an end for people west of a line from Marion to Pell City to Gadsden. Temperatures are in the mid-20s to the lower 30s for locations west of I-59 and in the mid-30s to the upper 40s east of that.

No reports of any icing issues across Central Alabama. Roadways are even beginning to dry out nicely without any ice forming. The good news is that clearing is already occurring in the northwestern parts of the area. Temperatures should start to rise within the hour and we’ll get back up into the mid-30s to the mid-40s across the area from the northwest to the southeast by this afternoon.
