| May 2, 2009 @ 9:10 pm | 5 Replies

All severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings have expired across Alabama.

We will get a very brief break before more severe storms reach the Mississippi/Alabama border after 10 p.m.

In addition, some intensifying storms extended from northern Fayette into extreme northwestern Walker then into Winston County. An intense storm was approaching Nauvoo, or north of Carbon Hill in Walker County. These storms could become severe soon.

To the west, strong storms were near Starkville and Louisville in East Central Mississippi. This activity will reach West Alabama’s southern lamar and Pickens Counties between 10:30 and 11 p.m.

Several waves of strong storms and heavy rain will spread across Alabama tonight. And more active severe weather is expected Sunday afternoon. Whew! It is going to be a busy time in the old weather office.

Parts of the area can actually use the rain. Others have had more than their share.

The NWS in Birmingham has posted a Flash Flood Watch for Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Walker, Winston [AL] till May 03, 7:00 AM CDT.

A flood advisory continues for Lamar and Marion Counties until 11:45 p.m.
