Nice & Mild Out There A Little After The Midday Hour

| February 27, 2019 @ 1:43 pm

At just after 1:30 pm on this fabulous and mild afternoon, we have mostly sunny skies over the north and western parts of the area, while the east and southern parts of the area have some cloud cover to deal with. Temperatures are in the mid-60s to the mid-70s across the area with those temperatures being a little cooler underneath the cloud cover. The cool spot is Auburn at 66 degrees while the warm spot was at Vaiden Field in Uniontown at 76 degrees. Birmingham was at 72 degrees.

For the rest of the daylight hours today, we’ll continue to have mostly clear skies over the northern parts of Central Alabama with partly to mostly cloudy skies over the southern half. We could have a few isolated to scattered showers fire up mainly south of the I-20 corridor, but those chances are rather small. Afternoon highs will top out in the lower to mid-70s across the area from north to south. For tonight, rain chances will really begin to increase as we’ll have disturbance move through the area during the evening and overnight hours, with rain becoming likely after sunset in the western parts, and becoming likely in the central parts around midnight. Overnight lows will be in the lower 50s to the lower 60s.

Thursday will start off with showers and maybe a few claps of thunder moving through and exiting the state around the noon hour, but more will develop around a deepening surface low that will be located over the northern parts of the state. Those secondary showers will mainly be located north of the I-20 corridor at this point. Afternoon highs will be in the mid-60s to the mid-70s across the area from north to south. No threat of severe weather with any thunderstorms that do develop tomorrow.
