Near Maximum Sunshine At Midday, A Few Showers Possible Later Tonight

| March 20, 2019 @ 12:26 pm

It’s very hard to spot any clouds in Central Alabama as we have made it to the midday hour on Wednesday, but if you squint your eyes really hard, there are a couple of very small clouds in the central parts of the area. Other than that, the rest of Central Alabama is cloud free with temperatures in the upper 50s to the mid-60s at this point.

But, as you can see off to our west and northwest, there is a weak cold front that will be moving through the northern parts of the area later this evening and through the overnight hours that may just have enough moisture for a few light showers to occur along and north of the I-59 corridor. All of these should be gone by or just after sunrise on Thursday.

Skies will stay mainly clear throughout the rest of the daylight hours with afternoon highs reaching the mid-60s to the lower 70s across the area. Clouds begin moving into the northwestern parts of the area and spreading southeast during the evening with showers becoming possible before the newscast at 10:00 pm. A few showers will be possible north of the I-59 corridor with rain chances ranging from 20% to 50% from southeast to northwest. Lows will be down in the lower to mid-40s.

Skies will slowly be clearing throughout the day on Thursday, but once those lingering showers move out of the northeastern corner of the area very early in the morning, the rest of the day will be dry and nice. Afternoon highs top out in the lower 60s to the lower 70s across the area. Skies will be mainly clear through the evening and overnight hours with lows in the mid-30s to the lower 40s.
