Clouds Are Eroding Away At Midday; A Few Showers Possible Later This Evening

| March 26, 2019 @ 12:36 pm

CONDITIONS AT 12:30 PM
We are starting to get some clearing over the northwestern corner of the state, but we need to get that over the rest of Central Alabama so we can get these temperatures to warm up some. Temperatures are in the 50s across the area at this point with Tuscaloosa topping out as the warm spot at 61 degrees. The cool spot was actually Birmingham at 52 degrees.

WHAT TO EXPECT FOR THE REST OF YOUR TUESDAY
While much of Central Alabama will remain dry, there will be a possibility of few showers to move over the extreme eastern parts of the area probably starting around 5:00 pm and lasting through midnight. Rain chances in those areas range from 20-30%. For the rest of Central Alabama, cloud cover will continue to diminish from north to south. Afternoon highs will be in the lower to mid-60s across the area with overnight lows in the mid-30s to the mid-40s.

HOW ABOUT WEDNESDAY
It will be a much brighter day on “Hump Day” as we’ll have sunny skies throughout the day. Afternoon highs will be warmer, topping out in the upper 60s to the lower 70s. Clear skies will continue through the evening and overnight hours with lows dropping into the upper 30s to the lower 40s.

DAMAGE FROM LAST NIGHT’S STORMS
We had a good bit of damage reported from the severe storms that moved through the southern half of Central Alabama on Monday. Multiple trees were reported down in several counties, including Bibb, Chilton, Dallas, Elmore, Hale, Shelby, Talladega, and Tallapoosa. One home in Greensboro (Hale Co.) suffered some damage to its window panes from the intense hail that fell. Damage occurred in downtown Clanton (Chilton Co.) as a roof was blown off of a business and landed in the street, damaging a few vehicles that were parked. The last report that came in was a tree fell on a home in Smiths Station (Lee Co.) The good news is that there were no major injuries reported.
