Plenty Of Blue Skies & Bright Sunshine Just Before The Midday Hour

| April 1, 2019 @ 11:04 am

CONDITIONS AS OF 11:00 AM
While we are seeing plenty of blue skies and bright sunshine across Central Alabama as we are making the run-up to the midday hour, Mother Nature is playing her version of an April Fool’s prank on us. Temperatures are still rather cool across the area with upper 40s to the mid-50s showing up on the latest round-up. Birmingham was at 51 degrees, Haleyville was at 47 degrees as the cool spot, and a few locations in the southeastern parts of the area tied at 56 degrees as the warm spots.

WEATHER FOR THE REST OF YOUR MONDAY
We’ll continue to have mainly clear skies with plenty of sunshine through the rest of the afternoon and into the early evening hours but clouds will begin to build during the mid-evening through the late night hours. We’ll have an impulse move through across the southern 2/3rds of the area during the late night and overnight hours that will bring a few showers to locations mainly south of a line from Demopolis to Calera to Anniston. Locations north of that line should stay dry tonight. Today’s highs will top out in the upper 50s to the upper 60s across the area from northwest to southeast, with overnight lows falling into the mid-30s to the mid-40s.

A FABULOUS TUESDAY WITH WARMER TEMPERATURES
We start a nice warming trend on Tuesday as we’ll have mostly sunny skies across Central Alabama once the clouds from the overnight disturbance moves out during the early morning hours. Afternoon highs will top out in the mid to upper 60s across the area from north to south. We’ll have clear skies and chilly temperatures during the late night and overnight hours, with lows dipping into the upper 30s to the lower 40s.

I MENTIONED A WARMING TREND
After highs topping out in the mid to upper 60s on Tuesday, those afternoon highs will continue to climb throughout the remainder of the week and into the weekend, where we could see some locations hit the lower 80s on Saturday and Sunday. As the ensembles are showing, it doesn’t look like we will be cooling down anytime soon… at least through mid-April. We may have just seen our last day of below freezing temperatures across much of Central Alabama until fall.
