Destructive Tornado Hits Ruston, LA & Louisiana Tech University

| April 25, 2019 @ 9:24 am

Severe storms that moved through Louisiana during the middle of the overnight hours spawned a destructive tornado that moved through the city of Ruston and across the campus of Louisiana Tech University.

There has been plenty of damage reported, including to many of the athletic facilities (baseball, softball, soccer, tennis and track & field). Several businesses, gas stations, and at least one hotel received major damage.

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards has reported on the damage and released the sad news of two confirmed fatalities.

At this point, no word on where the fatalities occurred, but we know at least that all of the students at the university are safe and accounted for.

Louisiana State University is closed today due to the extensive damage across the campus.
