A Few Isolated Strong Storms Out There At 3:20 PM

| May 16, 2019 @ 3:28 pm

Radar at 3:20 pm shows a few isolated thunderstorms over the northern and northeastern parts of the area. Some of these cells are capable of producing nickel-size hail and wind gusts up to 50 MPH, especially over Cullman and Calhoun counties. These are slowly pushing off to the southeast at 15 MPH.

When the Calhoun County cell passed over the city of Anniston, it produced hail up to 0.70-inch diameter hail. It also did the same over Hobson City.

Along with the gusty winds and small hail, these storms are producing heavy rainfall and dangerous cloud to ground lightning. If you are in the path of any of these storms, go indoors until it passes. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to the parent thunderstorm to be struck by lightning.
