An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

DRY THROUGH TOMORROW: Delightful weather continues through tomorrow. Tonight won’t be as cool as last night; most spots will be in the 50 to 57 degree range early tomorrow with a clear sky. Then, with a sunny sky, the high tomorrow afternoon will be in the upper 70s, perhaps touch 80 in parts of West Alabama as temperatures get back to where they should be this time of the year.

Clouds will increase Thursday, and we will mention some risk of a shower late in the day; it seems like the best chance of showers Thursday afternoon will be over East Alabama, then spreading westward Thursday night.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: The key to the Memorial Day weekend is the surface low in the Gulf of Mexico. Most models are actually in pretty decent agreement this morning; they keep the primary rain shield with the system over the southern half of Alabama through Sunday. The rain should be most widespread south of Montgomery, with just a few showers from time to time for this part of Alabama. Watch the Weather Xtreme video and you will see the HPC guys suggest no rain at all for North Alabama through Saturday… I disagree with that, we will mention a chance of showers late Thursday through Sunday, but the rain should not be as extensive as it looked earlier this week. That is good news for SEC baseball fans; the tournament is at Regions Park this weekend. There will be raindrops out there, but hopefully no wash-out.

WEEKEND AT THE BEACH: Showers and a few thunderstorms are likely on the coast from Panama City west to Gulf Shores. East winds could gust as high as 35 mph, and the surf will be rough with potential for dangerous rip tides. But, I do think there will be breaks in the rain, and the sun might even peek out at times. So, not the best weekend on the beach, but not the worst either. It is unlikely that the system in the Gulf becomes a tropical storm; it will be more of a hybrid type system, but still capable of some locally heavy rain amounts on the Gulf Coast in coming days. Again, see the Weather Xtreme video for more details.

NEXT WEEK: Looks like a layer of deep moisture will cover Alabama for much of next week, with the daily risk of at least scattered showers and storms. The dry, continental air that covers the state today will be long gone.

It was great seeing all of the 5th graders today at their “Bridge To Berry” ceremony at Greystone Elementary. Hard to believe this school year is over; the years seem to be passing by at a very fast pace. Guess I must be having to much fun…

Look for the next Weather Xtreme video here by 7:00 a.m. tomorrow…
