HOLIDAY WEEKEND GETTING CLOSER: Moisture levels will slowly increase in coming days across our state; we will bring in a chance of a shower tomorrow afternoon, and then maintain the risk of showers Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as the storm system in the Gulf of Mexico drifts northward. It still appears the heaviest and most widespread rain will be over the southern third of the state, so just plan on a few passing showers on a daily basis through Sunday. Afternoon highs will stay mostly in the 76 to 80 degree range, a little below average for mid-May in Alabama.

GULF COAST WEATHER: Rain should be more widespread along the coast tomorrow through Sunday, but there will be breaks in the rain, and maybe even a few peeks of sunshine along the way. Highs along the immediate coast will be close to 80, and the sea water temperature at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab this afternoon is 73 degrees. The surf will be rather rough, and rip tides are likely as well, so be careful if you get in the water. East winds will remain gusty as well.

NEXT WEEK: Rain should be more widespread across the northern half of the state early next week as the Gulf low moves inland; periods of rain are likely Monday, Tuesday, and into Wednesday.
