…Significant Weather Advisory for Locally Dense Fog across
portions of north central Alabama, northeast Alabama and southern
middle Tennessee…
Widespread locally dense fog has developed in a few of the larger
river valleys across north central Alabama, northeast Alabama and
southern middle Tennessee, including the Tennessee River, Paint Rock
River, and Elk River as well as Lake Guntersville. This will impact
major highways including U.S. Highways 72 and 431, and Tennessee
State Highways 273 and 274. Visibility reductions to one quarter of a
mile or less will be possible in these areas.
Motorists are urged to drive with extreme caution, as visibilities
will vary significantly given the patchy nature of the fog. Use low
beams, reduce driving speed, and allow for plenty of room between you
and other cars.
The fog should begin to burn off between 8 and 9 AM CDT.
Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio, or a favorite local media outlet,
for further statements or updates from the National Weather Service
in Huntsville.
