Freeze Watch Issued For All Of North Alabama Until Saturday 8:00 AM

NWS Huntsville has issued a FREEZE WATCH starting Friday at 10:00 pm for the following counties in North Alabama: Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, Morgan. The watch is set to expire Saturday at 8:00 am.

…FREEZE WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING…

* WHAT…Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 26 possible.

* WHERE…Portions of north central, northeast and northwest
Alabama.

* WHEN…From Friday evening through Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS…Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
