Areal Flood Advisory: Parts of Lamar & Marion Counties Until 8:30 PM

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Small Stream Flood Advisory for…
Marion County in northwestern Alabama…
Lamar County in west central Alabama…

* Until 830 PM CST.

* At 536 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms was moving back into the advisory area. This will
cause small stream flooding in the advisory area.

Additional rainfall between one and two inches is expected. This
additional rain will result in minor flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
