EXPIRED – Areal Flood Advisory: Parts of Walker, Fayette, and Lamar Counties Until 7:45 PM

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Small Stream Flood Advisory for…
Northwestern Walker County in central Alabama…
Fayette County in west central Alabama…
Southern Lamar County in west central Alabama…

* Until 745 PM CST.

* At 437 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding in the
advisory area. Two to two and a half inches of rain have already
fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Jasper, Winfield, Fayette, Carbon Hill, Millport, Berry, Glen
Allen, Kennedy, Kansas, Nauvoo, Belk, Eldridge, Curry, Bankston,
Smith Dam, Bluff, Ashcraft Corner, Blooming Grove, Smith Lake and
Cody.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
