Areal Flood Advisory: Parts of Walker, Marion, Pickens, Winston, Fayette, & Lamar Counties Until 12:45 AM

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for…
Northern Walker County in central Alabama…
Marion County in northwestern Alabama…
Northwestern Pickens County in west central Alabama…
Winston County in northwestern Alabama…
Fayette County in west central Alabama…
Lamar County in west central Alabama…

* Until 1245 AM CST.

* At 1048 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause
urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area. Up to three
inches of rain with locally higher amounts have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Jasper, Hamilton, Winfield, Fayette, Haleyville, Carbon Hill,
Vernon, Sulligent, Millport, Lynn, Arley, Guin, Double Springs,
Brilliant, Addison, Glen Allen, Kennedy, Detroit, Kansas and
Nauvoo.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
