Strong Storms Across Pickens, Greene, and Sumter Counties

| February 5, 2020 @ 10:42 pm

Strong storms are occurring at this hour across much of Sumter County.

They will be moving into southern Pickens and northern Greene counties over the next 30 minutes. The area outlined in peach is in a significant weather advisory for the storms.

Heavy rain, gusty winds, and dangerous lightning are accompanying the storms.

No severe weather is occurring across Alabama at this hour, but we continue to monitor for an increase in severe weather potential across Central Alabama as an approaching upper-level disturbance and increasing low level jet increases lift across the area.

Damaging winds and hail wi be the main threat, but a couple of isolated tornadoes can’t be ruled out.
