Some Showers Out There At Midday; A Few Flurries Possible Tonight???

| February 26, 2020 @ 12:35 pm

As of 12:20 pm, we have some light shower activity mainly in the northeastern quarter of the area east of I-65 and along I-59. We do have some light drizzle or showers just north of the I-85 corridor in the southeastern parts as well. These will continue to move generally to the east through the afternoon. Behind that, there are some breaks in the cloud cover that is allowing for some sunshine to reach the surface.

Temperatures across the area as of the 12:00 pm Roundup were ranging from the lower 40s in the northwest (42 degrees at Haleyville) to the mid-50s in the southeast (54 degrees at Montgomery). Birmingham was at 47 degrees.

The rest of the daylight hours will be mainly cloudy, but a few rays of sunshine may break through at times. We’ll continue to have a few spotty showers mainly over the northern half of Central Alabama but that activity will be decreasing by the end of the daylight hours. Afternoon highs will be in the mid-40s to the lower 60s across the area from northwest to southeast. Some patchy drizzle or maybe a few snow flurries will be possible during the late-night hours and into the first part of the overnight hours, but those will dissipate before 2:00 am. Lows will be in the upper 20s to the mid-30s from north to south.

We’ll start off with a few clouds early on Thursday, but most of those will be out of the area by mid-morning and we’ll be left with sunny skies. Temperatures will be below average for this time of the year as highs will only top out in the upper 40s to the lower 50s.
