Several Flood Advisories Posted Over The Past Few Minutes

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for…

Elmore County in east-central Alabama…
Chilton County in central Alabama…
Northeastern Dallas County in south-central Alabama…

Chambers County in east-central Alabama…

* Until 715 PM CST tonight.

* At 108 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated persistent heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include Alexander City, Millbrook, Calera, Valley, Clanton, Wetumpka, Lanett, Dadeville, Jemison, Goodwater, Camp Hill, Rockford, Kellyton, Weogufka, Equality, Stroud, Stewartville, Lafayette, La Fayette and Thorsby.

* At 102 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated persistent heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include Demopolis, Brent, Marion, Livingston, Eutaw, Centreville, York, Greensboro, Forkland, Akron, Boligee, Gainesville, Epes, Newbern, Emelle, Vaiden, Thornhill, Boyd, Mertz and Sawyerville.


Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots. Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you can do so safely.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
