Rain Area Moving East Out of Alabama, Showers Will Continue This Afternoon, More Rain/Storms Tonight

| March 22, 2020 @ 11:45 am

A large area of rain and storms covers much of eastern Alabama this morning, from Anniston to Sylacauga to Alex City, to Tallassee and Auburn, to Montgomery to Eufaula.

Showers extended from Birmingham back to Livingston along the I-59 Corridor. Other showers over northern Mississippi are pushing east and will push across North Alabama this afternoon.

Lightning is limited to areas south of Montgomery.

The main rain area will move into Georgia over the next three hours. It will take a while for the other showers to diminish this afternoon.

Temperatures are in the 40s over North Alabama, around 50F in the I-20 Corridor, and in the 50s over South Alabama, except over Southeast Alabama, where temperatures are in the middle 60s.

Lows tonight will be in the 50s with scattered showers.

Another round of rain and storms will move into mainly North Alabama after midnight tonight. As a cold front works south and stalls near I-20 on Monday, additional showers and storms will form producing periods of rain and thunder.
