Conditions Across Central Alabama at 12:15 pm

The visible satellite image across Alabama shows mainly clear skies across the state with only a few wispy rogue clouds floating overhead. Temperatures as of the 12:00 pm Roundup were in the mid-50s to the mid-60s across Central Alabama. Demopolis, Troy, and Tuscaloosa were tied as the warm spots at 64 degrees. Gadsden was the cool spot at 55 degrees. Birmingham was sitting right in-between at 59 degrees.

Refreshing Weather for the Rest of Your Wednesday

Skies will remain mainly sunny throughout the rest of the afternoon and into the early evening hours, with mostly clear skies continuing through the late night and overnight hours. Afternoon highs will top out in the lower 60s to the lower 70s across the area from north to south. Overnight lows will be in the upper 30s to the mid-40s.

What to Expect on Thursday

Skies will be mostly clear throughout much of the daylight hours, but a few more clouds will begin to roll in during the late afternoon and early evening hours. Skies throughout the late night and overnight hours will be partly cloudy. Afternoon highs will top out in the upper 60s to the lower 70s across the area from north to south. Lows before sunrise on Friday morning will be in the mid-40s to the lower 50s.

Damage Assessments From Tuesday’s Tornadoes
At this point, damage just south of Eufaula (Barbour Co.) is consistent with an EF-2 tornado with estimated winds at 130 MPH. That assessment is currently ongoing and the information may change. Due to keeping the staff isolated, NWS Birmingham is not giving out the planned survey details. Damage survey results will be released to the public when completed.

1990 – Thunderstorms produced severe weather in Texas, from southern Arkansas and northern Louisiana to southern Georgia, and from northern South Carolina to the Upper Ohio Valley during the day and evening. Thunderstorms spawned a tornado at Evergreen AL, and there were more than eighty reports of large hail and damaging winds. Thunderstorms produced baseball size hail north of Bastrop LA, and produced damaging winds which injured one person west of Meridian MS.
