Flood Advisory: Greene, Hale, Pickens, Sumter Counties Until 2:00 AM

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Flood Advisory for…
Southern Pickens County in west central Alabama…
Greene County in west central Alabama…
Northern Hale County in west central Alabama…
Northwestern Sumter County in west central Alabama…

* Until 200 AM CDT.

* At 1100 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Livingston, Eutaw, Moundville, Akron, Boligee, Union, Gainesville,
Epes, Emelle, Panola, West Greene, The University Of West Alabama,
Benevola, Wedgeworth, New West Greene, Boyd, Mantua, Allison, Jena
and Knoxville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
