Flood Advisory for Tallapoosa & Coosa Co. Until 8:30 PM

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Small Stream Flood Advisory for…
Tallapoosa County in east central Alabama…
Coosa County in east central Alabama…

* Until 830 PM CDT.

* At 533 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding in the
advisory area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Alexander City, Dadeville, Goodwater, Camp Hill, Rockford,
Kellyton, Weogufka, Jacksons’ Gap, New Site, Hanover, Lyle,
Pentonville, Dollar, Bradford, Cottage Grove, Bentleyville, Moriah,
Hatchet, Nixburg and Hillabee Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.
