Breezy & Dry At Midday; A Shower or Two Possible Over NW Alabama

| May 6, 2020 @ 12:34 pm

As of 12:23 pm, there are no showers showing up on radar. There is a small possibility of a few showers over the northeastern portions of the area as a secondary cold front will be moving through during the afternoon hours. Winds at the surface will be breezy and gusts may reach up to 35 MPH at times.

A WIND ADVISORY is up for all of Central Alabama until 7:00 pm this evening for the threat of those higher wind gusts. Those gusty winds could blow unsecured objects around and a few tree limbs may fall.

Temperatures as of the 12:00 pm round-up were in the mid-60s to the upper 70s across Central Alabama. Troy was the warm spot at 78 degrees while Haleyville was reporting 64 degrees as the cool spot. Birmingham was sitting at 71 degrees. Afternoon highs are expected to top out in the mid-60s to the upper 70s across the area.

Skies will be clearing out tonight and the winds will begin to subside. Any shower activity will have diminished and rain is not in the forecast. Overnight lows will be in the upper 30s to the mid-40s. Some of those colder valleys could drop into the lower to mid-30s.

Another cold front will be heading in our direction and will move into the area on Friday, but before that, Thursday will be an absolutely wonderful day with mainly clear skies and highs reaching the lower to mid-70s. Clouds will begin to move in late in the evening, but rain is not expected to enter into the extreme northwestern parts of the area until just before dawn on Friday morning. Lows will be in the upper 40s to the lower 50s.
